Exult XML Conversion Wizard — Step-by-Step Tutorial for Beginners
Overview
Exult XML Conversion Wizard (by Novixys) converts XML into Excel (XLS), Access (MDB/ACCDB), CSV, HTML or relational databases. It auto-maps XML elements/attributes to tables/columns, creates parent–child relationships, and supports batch/command-line conversion.
Quick prerequisites
- Windows PC (compatible with older Windows; see Novixys site for exact versions)
- Microsoft Excel or Access if exporting to those formats
- Download and install Exult from Novixys (trial available; trial limits apply)
Step-by-step tutorial (prescriptive)
- Install and launch Exult.
- Start the Wizard: choose the target output type (XLS/Access/CSV/DB).
- Add XML files:
- Click Add File; you may add multiple files for merging.
- Optionally supply a URL if supported.
- Preview parsed structure:
- Use the preview pane to inspect extracted tables and fields.
- Exult will show inferred tables and parent–child relationships.
- Select tables/fields to export:
- Tick only the worksheets/tables you need.
- Use Merge/Join options if you want combined views.
- Configure options:
- Set output file path and name.
- For database targets, enter connection details (server, database).
- Choose batch/command-line output if you’ll automate conversions.
- Run conversion:
- Click Next/Convert; monitor progress and review the log for errors.
